This case report presents the treatment process and outcomes of an elderly male patient with bullous pemphigoid managed through integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine. The patient presented with widespread blisters, erythema, exudation, pruritus, and pain as primary symptoms. Following a diagnosis confirmed by skin biopsy and immunological testing, he underwent acute treatment with corticosteroids and antibiotics, complemented by traditional Chinese medicine interventions aimed at clearing heat, invigorating spleen for eliminating dampness, and clearing heat for cooling blood. Post-treatment, the patient’s acute symptoms showed significant improvement, and the Chinese medicine intervention also alleviated fatigue, weakness, and hallucinations. However, subsequent complications from infections emerged. This report explores the potential of Chinese medicine in immunomodulation, reducing treatment-related side effects, and enhancing survival rate, while also analyzing the challenges and limitations in managing bullous pemphigoid, providing a reference for clinical practitioners of integrated medicine.
